In competition with over 100 artists, Debey Zito and Terry Schmitt were chosen to create artwork for the Alameda West End Library, a PWA building built in 1935.

Zito Schmitt's design chosen for the historic Swedenborgian Church included three 9' benches (as shown), a privacy wall with seat and 2 backless benches. The pieces are now included in the Church's National Landmark Designation.
