In competition with over 100 artists, Debey Zito and Terry Schmitt were chosen to create artwork for the Alameda West End Library, a PWA building built in 1935.  

The mural was devoted to the wildlife of Alameda Island.

Plaster cast Bunny Run in the children’s section.

In the 21’ long children’s frieze area, two be-speckled hares are relaxing and reading books.

Zito Schmitt's design chosen for the historic Swedenborgian Church included three 9' benches (as shown), a privacy wall with seat and 2 backless benches. The pieces are now included in the Church's National Landmark Designation.
